SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and general ledger maintenance. This position is responsible for maintaining and updating financial records using databases, spreadsheets, and accounting systems that track expenditures, revenue, receipts, cash flow, and other financial activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions, and complete corresponding reconciliations
  • Maintain vendor information and track vendor invoices and balances
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining accounts payable records
  • Generate purchase orders to support work orders and service contracts
  • Code bills to proper GL accounts and obtain proper approvals on a daily basis
  • Prepare and analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, capital, income & expenses
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met in accordance with the closing dates set by management
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to drive efficiency and scalability to support increases in volume, new data sources, or reporting requirements
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required, Accounting or Finance degree preferred
  • 2+ years accounting related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Strong PC skills including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Netsuite accounting software a plus
  • Able to work with minimal supervision while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
  • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details with analytical problem solving ability
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines on multiple entities and projects simultaneously
